Could You Have a Sleep Disorder?

Of the nearly 70 million Americans who are problem sleepers, about half have a chronic disorder that keeps them from getting the restorative sleep they need, and many have no idea.

If you sleep poorly, snore, have morning headaches, or are fatigued or excessively sleepy during the day, you could have a sleep disorder. And while that can leave you tired and irritable, there are other consequences: strained relationships, poor performance at work or school, mood problems, serious health issues like high blood pressure and heart disease, even injury or death.

At Midwest Chest Consultants, we know that sleeping well may be the best way to improve your quality of life. With experienced sleep physicians, the only AASM-accredited sleep center in St. Charles, Missouri, and personnel dedicated to sleep medicine, we’re able to delve into the science of your sleep difficulty.

In other words, we have the skill, technology, and experience to get to the bottom of your sleep problem and help you get truly restful slumber. You know, the kind you’ve been dreaming of.

Our Experience and Credentials

At Midwest Chest Consultants, we bring more than a decade of experience to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. We provide board-certified expertise in sleep medicine, and we’re the area’s only sleep center to be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

In addition, we are the medical directors of the sleep laboratory at SSM St. Joseph Health Center, which we founded with the hospital in 1996. As a result, we are among the most experienced, credentialed, and capable sleep medicine providers serving St. Charles, St. Peters, O’Fallon, Wintsville, Warrenton, Wright City, and Troy.

Sleep Studies

For your sleep study, we go the extra mile to make you comfortable and relaxed. Our six-bed sleep laboratory at SSM St. Joseph Health Center has quiet, private, well-appointed rooms, each with a comfortable bed and a private restroom with shower.

Plus, your study will be conducted by registered polysomnographic technicians. And we use leading-edge technologies and computerized sleep monitoring for an accurate and complete diagnosis.

Sleep Disorder Treatment

Once we know why you’re having trouble, our experienced sleep physicians will help resolve your problem. If it turns out you have sleep apnea, a breathing-related disorder, we can provide treatment (a CPAP device) customized for your needs. (And we usually are able to do this without making you return for a second study, as is typical at other sleep labs!)

We also manage other sleep disorders with medications, lifestyle changes, and medical management or treatment of underlying or related disorders.

Compassion and Dedication

From our physicians to our support staff, we genuinely care about your health and well-being. We will treat you with kindness and respect. We’ll explain every aspect of your test and care to you in terms you can understand. We’ll answer all your questions. And we’ll work to understand your problem and provide a solution.

We know the difference between sleeping and sleeping well, and our goal is to help you get truly restful sleep.

Working with Your Physician

At Midwest Chest Consultants, we never forget that your physician is the vanguard of your continued good health. So we’re available to consult with your doctor, and we’ll call if we have questions or concerns. We’ll also provide timely results from your sleep study and our professional recommendations for helping you overcome your difficulty.
