Our Sleep Coordinator
The Specialized Know-how behind Your Sleep Study
Susan L. Townsley, RPSGT, RRT, RPFT
"As the sleep coordinator for Midwest Chest Consultants, I'm responsible for handling everything related to patients who come in for their sleep difficulties. It's both challenging and rewarding to be involved with these types of patients and on such an important level.
Today, public awareness about sleep disorders — and the significant impact they can have on people's lives and health — is increasing. But the truth is that most people with sleep difficulties wait years before doing something about their problem. My reason for dedicating myself to the diagnosis of sleep disorders is simple: It has a profound and positive effect on people's lives.
The physicians in this practice have dedicated themselves to excellence in sleep medicine, and I'm proud that they know they can rely on me to coordinate all aspects of their sleep medicine cases.
Yet, the reason I am dedicated to doing the best job I can do is that I regularly see how people's lives are changed when they get treated for their sleep problems. It isn't uncommon for us to hear people say that they feel like a new person. For me, there is no substitute for knowing that I'm helping make a real difference for these people. It makes it truly enjoyable to come to work each day."
